Look at the floor, Where the grass is (even lower than the concrete), and look at the concrete ledge.
That rail is a little over knee-high...and a few of the other rails in that park (9 in total) are even higher than that rail....but they arent straight like this one.
Sorry dude, but just because there are things in the background that are lower than the rail doesn't mean that you can perceive how tall the rail is. The rail is only running along one dimension in this picture; depth. There's no vertical information when it comes to the rail, thus it's impossible to judge how high it is from this angle

There are two criteria for sports photos; the trick and the composition. The trick in this instance is of such a standard that it is severely let down by the composition. If this was just a frontside or something along those lines, I wouldn't specifically care so much about the angle because the whole photo would suck
I appreciate the notion that Dario was being creative when taking this instead of taking a straight shot at it, and I'm not knocking that; from a purely photographic point of view, this is not a good picture because it does not accurately convey the subject matter in all its glory. This rail may be knee-high or whatever, but I'd much rather see it for myself than have to rely on someone telling me about it to make up for poor composition. If you extrapolate that logic to a far grander scale, you could say that there's no need for a photo because Antho could tell us that he hit a Christ Makio, on a knee high rail, in the middle of the night whilst wearing some funky items of clothing, right?
The whole point of taking a shot of a grind something is to showcase it. Composition is just as, if not more, important than the grind itself; fantastic composition can make the simplest of grinds look sick and, conversely, whack photography technique can ruin something amazing
