I realised shortly after I uploaded this that it was Louis who took this photo, not me since I was filming The colours are sketchy since I had to do alot to this in order to make Dunk visible, so that's why it looks all washed out
Soapers arent extreme? The third day that i had mine i manage to smeg up my knee and had to see a physio, forturnately i was working in a hospital at the time so i got in quick, good ol NHS!
soaping takes balls no doubt, jumping and sliding down any handrail with criss crossed feet is defianately classified as extreme in my books. go hate somewhere else
His feet appear close together because of the fucking angle, Gab. I have my feet a lot closer together than that when I unity and my balance is fine every single time
Sorry Gab, were you there? No. Louis and I were, we saw him do this grind, case closed If you look at the picture, you can see light shining between his legs on the top of the rail. Now, either your monitor has a shit resolution, you're blind, or you're being a fucking idiot
you talk about your tall uk rails, psh. that's lower than hell. ...sweet grind though... and sweet rail, haha. actually i have no idea what i'm complaining about. i really want to session that rail - it looks perfect in every way.
that rail was awesome. If i remember correctly, id estimate it was at least 40-50feet long. This rail has featured in quite a few inline and skateboarding videos.
As with alot of harder tricks, the key is to bend your knees. Easier tricks like UFOs and Royales, you can get away without bending your knees (but they look shit and generally aren't classed as 'proper') but for grinds like unities, bending the knees is the only real way of getting them to work
Having said that, I've seen pictures of unities where the person is bolt upright so it is possible, but I can imagine it makes for a pretty sketchy grind. Plus it looks shit. So if anything, bend your knees for style, and you'll probably find that the trick comes easier to you in the process
We were there in Summer 2004. Would love to go back, maybe if we sort out the session at Loughborough Uni we could. There was another awesome rail on the other side of the road bridge.
I remember a few weeks ago I tried doing a unity on my little practice rail. I went about two centimeters and dumped on my elbow. Didn't do any damage but it would've if I hadn't had my hand clutched into a fist.

So far I'm getting successful unities on ledges... I'll pic later.
This is cool though :P I wonder how they get their plates so perfectly aligned to the rail.
