Feature Pics to the MAX Jul 25, 2003 by derek A lot of people have been asking when their feature pics are going to get posted and I keep giving the same answer, so I thought I'd post it here. First of all, you guys are all dope and doing really well. We already have enough pending pictures to have a feature pic every day until October. While this is awesome and I'd like it to keep up, it also means it'll take us a while to post some of your pics... especially if it's not insanely good. We'll try to get to all pictures posted, however when we see a really good pic, we'll want to post it first. So try to submit only your best stuff, we want to show you tons of sick media! Say ::was being sarchastic:: :P Jul 27, 2003 Greg as an admin who has exposure to the feature pictures, but not the webmaster so i dont have to be as liberal and sugar coated as derek (plus its what im known for) i will say what every admin knows. yes, although we have enough feature pictures to last until october, there are some big problems. first off, 2/3rds of the pictures are ABSOLUETE trash. now im talking merely from a photography standpoint and not the trick, ill get to that later, but honestly, flip through a goddamn magazine or two and get an idea on how to shoot photos, its how i learnt for the most part. next is obiously the trick in the photo, and again, terrible. like derek said, we want your good stuff, but ill get it through your head. dont send up your stupid curb or practice rail frontsides, or badass cheesegraters. if thats all you can do then spend less time submitting photos and more time practicing. next is the overwhealming ammount of soapshoes pictures, which again both suck trick and photography wise. Most of you do other sports so we want to see that too, and i know everyone is brought here by soaps, but take a hint from the everyday examples from people like UKFSW, derek and his friends, myself (my friends are pretty haggard) and the DEOS boys that your tricks arent up to code, god knows its not hard to get up their with them. and just basicly look over the pictures that have already been featured, i said this to derek a few days and ill say it again, we've set enough of a precent now to let you guys know what makes the cut. And one last thing would be not to rag on pictures unless youve got ones, that we can see, to back up your claim. This isnt nearly as bad of a problem any more, but it still exists, so they people need to shut the f*** up. Jul 27, 2003 derek I agree with greg to a point, however ... also like he said, I'm generally a little nicer about it, hehe. Anyway, I know a lot of you have talent. Some are awesome photographers, some can bust awesome tricks, and some are both. If you are one of these people, help your buddies out. Not to brag or anything, but I'm a fairly decent photographer, so I try to give all my friends pointers on getting good shots. Trust me, it pays off. I know you all can get good shots. And if you haven't reached handrail status yet, don't worry about it. Style and photography can make a ledge picture look 50x cooler than lots of rail pictures (Look at Thomas Finsterbusch's mistrial in the inline section) Lastly, if you guys need pointers on photography, videography, style let us know. The authors (including myself) will do our best to help you out. For now though, check out aaron's tutorials in the Shew section. He wrote 2 good ones on how to make a good soap video... however these can be applied to every area of the site. Jul 27, 2003 derek I think aaron only wrote one, and phov wrote the other one.
