Boltar
Release: Unknown

Grindplate: BBK

The Soap Boltar is a tough model from Soap, it can grind every surface possible, and can hold up to the worst of weather. It features Meat is Murder Pleather and Ballistic mesh. Boltars have been one of Soap's most popular models and makes a great starter shoe, although it has features for all people of all levels. The Boltars have 3 exfoliant bars on the outsides and insides of each shoe, these are used to keep you from wrecking the sides of your shoes while doing tricks such as UFOs, Royales or while braking on a rail. Overall, the Soap Boltar takes it one step higher than its sister shoe, the Sylon. Boltars used to come stock with the Original grind plates but now come standard with replacable BBK grind plates. The Soap Boltar is now discontinued.

anyone know a site in the U.S. that sells these?

Apr 2, 2006 Surfaced

There are no United States web-based retailers that have a good stock anymore. But in the UK and Australia, there are.

www.Flywalk.co.uk - (they will ship to the U.S. in a couple of months, but not yet)

www.Shiner.co.uk

www.BladeSchool.com.au - (really low prices, except for replacement plates)

Apr 2, 2006 maddog

k thanks are these better then the GOA's cause me and my friend are decidin which to get

Apr 2, 2006 Surfaced

I don't know much about many of the shoes as far as actual use goes, but it appears these two models even each other out well.

I suppose it really depends on which you like most... maybe your friend should get one model and you the other.

Apr 2, 2006 broox

i would say the boltars are definitely more functional and rugged. the goas are more of a "looker" type of shoe. if you plan on grinding a lot and want a rugged shoe, definitely get the boltars.

Apr 8, 2006 mgm

Be careful when buying the blue boltars. Some sites will display a picture of the blue and white shoes but give you the black and blue shoes. This has happened to me.

Apr 8, 2006 Surfaced

Yes! I noticed that too. I think it's really white.

or maybe there really are two....

Apr 8, 2006 mgm

The black and blue shoes(Colbalts...I think) I mentioned above are not displayed on this site. Basically the whole botom half of the shoe are completely black. The sole is completely black and the material on lower half the shoe is completely black leather. The top is almost entirely blue except for the laces, logos, and the inside of the shoe which are white. Personally I don't like this color.

Apr 8, 2006 Surfaced

Neither do I. The white makes a better blend.

Apr 11, 2006 mgm

This shoe is very bulky. The look and feel of this shoe is not good. The mesh on the toe of the shoe really doesn't look good. Especially since the the mesh falls in when you wear them. Also the mix of leather and suede looks really wierd. The leather is sewn on so the edges of the leather stick out. The shoe looks much worse in person.

Apr 30, 2006 Sugarfree

I just scored a brand new pair size 12 :)

May 7, 2006 Sugarfree

And by the way don't listen to mr negative nancy above (mgm) These shoes really are nice shoes and they look great. Although i am not a fan of the bbk gring plate they lock on really well and are a comfortable shoe. I don't like them as much as the septums but they were definately worth the money :)

May 7, 2006 Surfaced

No shoe can beat the Septums for comfort. No Soap shoe at least... Those things are a foot joy.

May 18, 2006 chip

are theas shoes good? im looking for a good pair

May 18, 2006 Surfaced

Heels tend to fall apart after a while... but otherwise, it is a very durable shoe, and probably the most comfortable of its era.

May 18, 2006 chip

no not heeleys i ment soaps

May 26, 2006 Primal

...the HEEL of the shoe falls apart. Who said anything about HEELYS?

Jun 4, 2006 NatchDan

I've got a pair of Cobalt Boltars coming from rawk.com - they're selling them pretty cheap at the moment, and mine should arrive by Wednesday.

Sep 18, 2006 SapAuthor

Ok, i want to know, are these shoes comfertable or not. Cuz i hear that they are and aren't. I want a durable pair, but one that is comfy. Is this the shoe to get both worlds?

Oct 22, 2006 spartykus

oh man thats the pair i want! are they any good these ones?

Oct 22, 2006 SonicSoaper

Eh, they're okay. Not my slice of pie but they're okay looking shoes.

Oct 23, 2006 spartykus

What would you go for?

Oct 31, 2006 Volubilis

I have a pair in cobolt, They look much better in the flesh and feel great.

Oct 31, 2006 SonicSoaper

Something like the Express or Scorchers.

Nov 25, 2006 headbanger6313

Got my pair about 3 weeks ago. Love them.

Dec 6, 2006 Munkerz

Managed to get hold of some 'Soap Boltar Cobalts' the other day, they sounded like they were going to last longer than most of the others. They are decent as a starter, not the most comfortable but not the worst either.

Feb 5, 2007 ordnanceflint91

got my black/white boltars today......i always wanted them back when they first came out....well i got them and so far i love them...they are kinda heavy but to me they are comfortable....need to be broke in some to loosen up but so far so good and i love them

Feb 19, 2007 SentoryuJenova

They seem sorta bulky but are the most durible!! I MUST HAVE THEM!!!!!! Chex out me my space!!!! my name is:???? ?????.
Just copy/paste my name!!

Feb 19, 2007 AnthoFlex

Sure, i'll add you, but how do you type in Squares.....Did you use a font html for that?

Feb 19, 2007 SonicSoaper

Uh, yeeeeah.

Feb 27, 2007 kobansora

His myspace name is kuraudo sehfuirosu if spelled out literally lol. I'm sure it's something like, Cloud Sephiroth. Anyways, that's my part of Japanese lol.

I had my Boltars for about a week and it took about 3 days to break them in. Before then, they hurt my feet like a bitch. The exfoliant bars are useless... I did cess slides ON the bars and the sides of the shoe still got scuffed and tattered up. Luckily, those were pinhole tatters, but the scuffs are green and yellow :C I'M SAD

~JJ

Mar 5, 2007 RamenRadio

Damn, I'm never going to find these shoes.

Mar 5, 2007 SonicSoaper

Oh well.

Mar 5, 2007 RamenRadio

I'm still going to yell at the guy that sold me the sylons in a boltar box though

Mar 5, 2007 SonicSoaper

You do that.

Mar 5, 2007 RamenRadio

Wonderful encouragement ¨_¨

Mar 5, 2007 kobansora

Ramen, I love the sylons more than the Boltars.

~JJ

Mar 5, 2007 kobansora

I have all white Sylons w/ the grey lines btw.

Seexy.

~JJ

Mar 30, 2007 guero12

These shoes look cool and they have a replaceable grind plate.

Mar 30, 2007 sam

A lot of shoes have replaceable grindplates...

Mar 30, 2007 Slider388

boltars look almost like ordnances

Mar 31, 2007 RamenRadio

The blue ones, maybe yeah

Apr 18, 2007 kobansora

I don't relaly like the look of Boltars anymore.. neither do I like them much in performance.

THe soles started to come off after a week, and they looked like tanks on my feet even though they were the right size lol.

The exfoliant bars also didn't work as well as the ones on the sylons.

I like sylons.
~JJ

Apr 18, 2007 RamenRadio

I more like the style of this shoe. Although the sylons are still my fav, I just think that these are a stylin' shoe. And SylonSoaper sounds better than BoltarSoaper XD

Jun 5, 2007 SpiderSoaper

..........RIGHT!?!?!!??!

Jun 9, 2007 RamenRadio

......... go on the forum and look at the plates thread, I have a question for u

Jun 24, 2007 SapAuthor

Boltars are the best of the SOAPs IMHO. I don't know what you mean by the sole started to wear after a week, i've killed all my shoes in less than 3 months, these lasted 5 for me. They are the most comfertable shoe i've ever warn, the most stylish, these shoes turn heads.

Jun 24, 2007 Megashadow77

These DO look good....

Jun 25, 2007 RamenRadio

Who said that the sole started to wear after a week? I think that was about the ordinances or T-Bones or something, but no way in hell the boltars.

Jun 25, 2007 Megashadow77

I just figured out...they're called Boltars, cuz they got bolts near the front of the shoe.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH...hahahaha...haha...ha........
.....
.....
.....
Anyone? No? Fine then!

Jun 25, 2007 RamenRadio

lol I think I know what you're talking about man.

Jun 25, 2007 Megashadow77

Either way...if I could have any SOAP with replacable plates, it would be either Navy Scabs, or Cobalt Boltars.

Jun 25, 2007 RamenRadio

Damn straight Megashadow!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Two of the best shoes lol. However, I personally would go with the black scabs. Those things are sick.

But the cobalt boltars are a really nice pair of shoes. I couldn't love those shoes more. Trevor, I finally see why you like the boltars so much :D

Jun 25, 2007 AnthoFlex

The best looking ones (for me) are the Rusts, Cobalts, and the Gray ones (The one Trevor has)

Jun 25, 2007 iwantsoapshoes

yeah, i really wish rawk wasnt such a con. then i would have my boltars.

Jun 26, 2007 sam

I think cobalt looks the best, or rust.

Jul 4, 2007 Megashadow77

I demand Cobalt Boltars, as I value you them almost as much as Pizza!

Jul 28, 2007 Megashadow77

Cobalt Boltars=Sexier

Aug 9, 2007 ZOMGSCORCHERS

I am soooooooooooooooooo pissed off with www.rawk.com as I bought some white Boltars and I needed to phone them up to ask if hey were coming today or tomorrow (as it says next day delivery) and the lady on the FAQ Line said: "Oh sorry, we need to get some more stock from our supplier, so your Boltars will probably be with you on Monday or Tuesday. So much for next working day delivery. >:(

Aug 9, 2007 RamenRadio

You don't buy from rawk, they steel your money. They are liars and thieves.

Aug 10, 2007 Megashadow77

Yeah! Fuck Rawk!

They are a disgrace to Soap Shoes.....and the word rock.....and the word hawk!

Aug 19, 2007 greenfire8484

damn these are some nice shoes...

Aug 20, 2007 JonnyRoger

I have a pair of them in the Rust scheme and recently ordered a pair in the Cobalt scheme, Boltars are lovely! If I could find a pair in Grey Id snap them up too. My Rust ones are beat up to hell but I still parade them about more than my Ordnance Flints.
In reply to ZOMGSCORCHERS comment about Rawk.com I rang them up and got exactly the same comment you recieved from them about the supplier :P
*J*

Aug 25, 2007 Megashadow77

Boltars and goas....I would die for any color of either one.

Aug 25, 2007 greenfire8484

Cobalt= Sexiest.Shoe.Ever.

Aug 25, 2007 lvmaniac44

Aug 25, 2007 Page645

i like the bruise back&blue ones more than the cobalt

Aug 25, 2007 greenfire8484

Oct 17, 2007 AnthoFlex

In the past, these were supposed to come with Octanes, right around the time that the Sylons got the plate switch....i dunno what happened though

Oct 17, 2007 Megashadow77

Jan 19, 2010 Revengasaur

It is your destiny.

Jan 19, 2010 Brad

Fate has shined upon my bleak dreary existence and has shown me the way to enlightenment.

Jan 20, 2010 Tedd

In the bidding list, are you "m***j" by chance? If so, I'll leave them alone and you can have your fun. If not, I'll try to help out.

Jan 20, 2010 Ironbug

I own some Boltars :)
X

Jan 20, 2010 Brad

Lmao, some dumb ass bid like 10 times at once.

And no I'm not.

Jan 22, 2010 Tedd

Lol. Yeah, I saw that and thought about it for a second. Then my mind came to a screeching halt as I realized that he kept raising the bid--- And there goes my mind again.. This is from the bidding list as-is:

a***a US $56.00 Jan-19-10 20:52:04 PST

m***j US $55.00 Jan-20-10 03:47:20 PST

Either eBay messed up somehow or his maximum bid was $55 dollars. By the looks of things, he's scrounging up money from friends/family/couches or eBay's doing some automatic bidding for him.. Unless someone retracted their bids and it was left at that price. I dunno how bid retractions work on the price, but w/e. Best of luck to you Brad.

Jan 22, 2010 Brad

Well, I was kiiinda counting on the parents for this one and after that obnoxious raise in price they just laughed at me lmao. But w/e. Here's hoping that that guy has more. If you guys want em' you can go for it.

Jan 22, 2010 Brad

Well, I was kiiinda counting on the parents for this one and after that obnoxious raise in price they just laughed at me lmao. But w/e. Here's hoping that that guy has more. If you guys want em' you can go for it.

Jan 22, 2010 Tedd

Hmm.. Well, I'll help you out Brad. Lemme see what I can do for you. I just need to get to eBay really quick and try to bid on them.
......................
Okay, the page is up. We still have a day and.. Uh.. 2 hours from now. Lucky for you, I'm off work tomorrow and I'll be up by then to put in a better bid in case one comes in.

Jan 22, 2010 Tedd

...! What! I was outbid at 100 dollars?! Okay, this guy wants to play hardball eh?

Oh, btw.. Don't worry too much about paying me. You just pay me what you can and I'll take care of the rest.

Damn that's bad. Lol. I didn't think Boltars would sell for 100, and I got my Expresses for 40 dollars. Huh. Maybe it's because it's worldwide shipping? That's gotta be it because I had ZERO competition on the Expresses, (it was a win, but an empty one sorta) but it was to US only. Makes sense if you think about it.

Jan 23, 2010 Brad

Haha yeah don't worry about it.I'm sure he has more, if not then what ever. Besides, it's take me a while to scrounge up $100.

No job ftl.

Jan 23, 2010 Wesker

If you guys were smarter about ebay and bid at the last second with the highest amount you were willing to pay, then you wouldn't have raised the price so quickly like that.

Also I can see someone really wanting them because not only are they size 12 soap shoes, but they're a rare BRAND NEW pair of Boltars in the best color scheme, if they were a size 11- i'd be bidding on them myself.

Jan 23, 2010 JoeS

Yea I was planning on bidding today right before the auction ended, so I could ninja these shoes and replace the ones I've had for about 2 1/2 years now, but damn you guys really jacked that price up early and high

Jan 23, 2010 Brad

That wasn't us. Or at least, it wasn't me.

Jan 23, 2010 Tedd

Wasn't me either. You woulda been paying over 100 bucks for them anyway seeing as my bid of 100 got automatically outbid by this guy. He kept raising it on his own and he did it all on his own. I overslept so I lost the bid sadly. Damn, sorry Brad. I forgot to set an alarm. x.x

And if I had been awake, I woulda set it for 150. Damn. I'll keep looking around for you Brad, I feel bad about this. Lol.

Jan 23, 2010 Wesker

Tedd, on Jan 22nd you said you were outbid at $100 and it wasn't over yet.

To win things on ebay at a lower price, you don't bid AT ALL, until the last second.

If you place a high proxy bid with enough time before the end of an auction then you're just inviting people to surpass your proxy bid, thus cementing the price at your "limit" too early.

Jan 24, 2010 Brad

30 seconds left.

And Tedd, don't worry about it bud, lmao. I apprceate the friendlyness and all that though. It's really cool that you'd do that.

Jan 24, 2010 Brad

Whoa. Th first half of my post issapared.

I only bid when there's like 30 seconds left. Just to clarify ;)

Jan 24, 2010 Tedd

Automatic bidding said I had been outbid at the exact moment I placed my bid. Point is, he bid over 100 dollars. If anyone else didn't bid over 100, then they're not getting the shoes. I just happened to find out he had done so. So regardless of when you bid, if it wasn't over 100, then you were boned.

Jan 24, 2010 Brad

Yeah, that's a good point. I guess I just got lucky with my other soaps. :P

Jan 25, 2010 sylonbroadsides

oh you got another pair of soaps brad?

Jan 25, 2010 Brad

Nope lol. Just my sylons

Jan 26, 2010 Ironbug

Quick one guys...
I've been hearing alot about Wax...?
X

Jan 26, 2010 Brad

Wax? As in like waxing-up-a-rail-so-that-you-can-soap-it-faster wax? Or am I missing something.

Jan 26, 2010 Ironbug

Yeah! How essential/useful is that?:)
X

Jan 26, 2010 Brad

Depends. I usually only use it when the surface is hard to grind on. Or if yo feel like using it to haul ass down a rail, that's fine too :)

Jan 26, 2010 sylonbroadsides

ask on the forum bro, I'll tell you all you need to know about wax.

These are heavy as hell. But I can grind everything! Desperately need spare plates though

i was told though boltars are lighter compared to the cleans and scabs but you are right most shoes that have replaceable grind plates are typically heavier than the non-removable shoes. thats definitely one of the great benefits of the nonremoveable shoes

Still though, with non replaceable plates you have to buy new shoes entirely, which is more expensive in the long run. I'd say a little more weight and replaceable plates is quite better than a little less weight and having to buy new shoes.

Guess these aren't as sturdy now... So, anyone know where the pleather is on this? (Sorry if i seem stupid)Just don't want to make the same mistake like I did with my goas.

Just got 2 brand new pairs of these in size 8 and 9 today, grey/white. They look great, and I was pleasantly surprised by how narrow they are at the toe; making for a less "tank" looking shoe. Psyched to see how they perform compared to my Sylons!

Always wanted to try these. Less of a tank look huh?

Got a pair of these! Now I just got to repair these well...

Woah first time for a defect on the shoe. Sole is off a bit making the plate pretty close to the ground then it should be. Hope it doesn't affect much.
