Fabricating Your Own Plates
Mar 17, 2011 by Revengasaur

My father knows how to make slip cast molds out of ceramics. I'm thinking about trying to make some plates using this method. What kind of plastic were the original plates made out of I wonder? Some kind of nylon it seems. I wonder where I would go about getting the raw meltable plastics to make plates out of? Anyone Have any thoughts?

Go for it. I haven't a clue what sort of plastic was used. Maybe I'll drop Bryndon a line. I'm sure he'll now.

You could use nylon, but only for rails

Smooth Cast 300 might work, never got a chance to experiment with it myself but if you made a size 9-10 mold you could definitely put me down for a pair ;)
