These were some of my favorite plates - with a VERY limited release. They seriously had a perfect angle for tweaked grinds. They locked in just as well - if not better than the slo bros. However, they are fairly thin so you will wear through them super quick if you grind lots of ledges.
First apppearance of the Octane Plate was 2000BTS (back-to-school) as a change-over on the Sylons from the BBK plate. By 2001Spring the the Sylons had been discontinued and the Octane Plate was switched to be offered on the newly introduced Septums, but by 2001Fall the Septums had been changed-over to the BBK plate. So ends the Octane plate's brief one selling season of glory! Broox as absolutely correct on the VERY limited release.
Sorry Mart, I was just getting ready to correct my comment when you beat me to it! You are right, Septums switched from the Octane plate to the Slo Bro plate. My error on the previous comment .... don't know what I was thinking .... Thanks.
No, look closer. The cavity void in the middle [the Soap "O"] puts flat grinds on the right and left ridges, which equals low friction and one fast run. And look at the defined grooves on the right and left edges for side grinds. Excellent tweek-age.
yeah, anotho's right, i've never seen anyone over the age of 12 with them...except like...Kru, and he only bought them because he had to. poor guy. anyway, back to the subject at hand, these plates are bitchin' if you want to talk about heely's and all that, take it to the forum.
I love my Octanes, the outside is perfect for tweaking, its also shaped in a way that you wont have to stress yourself to get on the brake bar when you need to. Its like the Slobros, but with better lock-in and its soooo much faster
i've heard the plan, and i must say. if it works, i might just believe in god again. not really, but it will be the closest thing to a miracle ever. lol
Well, I have not tried the speedster plate yet but when I Do i will report if I think they ride the same. The def look simalar though. Oh and if you have ever used the impact grindplate it is a fucking amazing plate it is incredibly good, great tweakage, and when you get a nice groove going these things are the shit! highly recommended.
they're amazing plates for rails, but they're basically paper think plates. if you guys really want to try octanes, try carving some grooves while looking carefully at this picture. That's only to get an idea though, grooves made by ledges are always the best.
Is there anywhere in the world I can get new plates for my Boltars. Ive only had em a week and ive nearly killed the plates! I'm with vintage though, we need suppliers to take notice of the scene.
