The Grails are really nice shoes. The ABEC 3 bearings that come with the shoe go quite fast and they roll smooth. You could go forever if you found a nice smooth floor like in a school or something. The shoe is really light and comfortable. You should take out the wheel when not rolling because you are walking like you have high heels when you leave the wheels in, and it gets very wierd. Also another reason for taking out the wheels is sometimes you kind of forget about the wheels and you fall back or when you're getting out of a chair you might fall. The grind plate is very nice. It slides fast and locks in good. The only thing i have a problem with is that they are kind of small. Also watch out in your school assistant principals are on to me so look out for teachers and what not. These are great shoes and worth the money. And learning to roll on these shoes is a cinch it'll take you only a few minutes to get good at rolling. So go check out these crazy shoes.

Alright I went out the other night to test out the Heelys Grail 9023. I have to say that when I first heard of the idea of Heelys I kinda shook my head and turned the other way. I have to say that I was wrong though. At first I had a bit of trouble getting used to the shoes but caught on in about 10 minutes. I was out for a few hours and as always my feet could have used a break from the shoes because of the massive amounts of heat that they hold in. I think that Soap / Heelys really needs to consider a venting system. The Grails are not as heavy as I thought they would be so that helps with the heating problem. Another problem that I came across was the fact that it is super tough to get air to jump on a rail after jumping off your heal. I know that there is a one motion step to go from riding on the wheel to going to the front of the shoe to grinding but when cruising at a fairly good amount of speed right to the tread it makes things a little tough. The grind plates on the Heelys are pretty tight. I really like the style of them but I worry when I grind them down that the rubber in the gap will cause a problem. So far, so good though. As for style wise the Grail could not look better. I love the way that they look and when the wheel in the back is out, it looks just like a straight shoe. That makes it awesome for going out on the town or just heeling with your friends.

One foot in front of the other, Brother.

These shoes are awesome. I got the hang of heeling after about 5 minutes and the grind plates are crazy. Ive tried small rails and they work great. These shoes produce a hell of a lot of heat though, so i sggest you dont tie your shoe very tight

Jul 7, 2006 AnthoFlex

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww........to both of them.....especially the one with the yellow grind rails

Sep 16, 2006 gbajosh

Do these still compete with the new torch/evolution?

Oct 8, 2006 SonicSoaper

Nope. The Torch shoes blow these out of the water.

Feb 2, 2007 MeWhoElse

Yeah but does the Torch grind like the grails

Feb 2, 2007 AnthoFlex

Well....it DOES have a grindplate...

So u figure it out

Mar 23, 2007 heelyhailey

"Nope. The Torch shoes blow these out of the water."

true, but Evolutions blow Torches out of the water. If you look at Team Heelys videos (except ones shot by HSL) most skaters are wearing evolutions, they are just more comfortable, durable, and shock absorbant. Honestly I can't wait until they stop making Torches and make a different design, hopefully more like the Evos. EVOLUTIONS WILL LIVE!

Mar 23, 2007 AnthoFlex

See? Thats the problem with HSL, they cant just keep their shoes available...they have to discontinue them after a short time...always...

Its like....: OH! Its tuesday! bye bye Bliss! Hellooooooooooooo Escapes....or sumthing

Mar 23, 2007 heelyhailey

yeah, i know what your saying, only model they've kept out for a long time is rebels . . . and no one likes rebels

Mar 27, 2007 ordnanceflint91

just got my grey grails today. gotta say they are really comfortable. about the same as soaps. they grind great also. i like them as much as my soaps.

Mar 27, 2007 kobansora

Ho'wd you get Grails? Lucky bastard :O

~JJ

Mar 27, 2007 Slidey

Yeah I might get some Grails or Evos (If I can find them).
I Wana see what the Heely grind shoes are like but only if I can find some cheap (£30 or less)

Mar 27, 2007 Mart

You'll be lucky to find a pair of Evolutions costing less than £80 dude, they're proper expensive over here

Mar 27, 2007 Slidey

Yeah, thought so, maybe on ebay or sumin tho...
Otherwise I'll just save up untill i got loads of extra cash

Mar 27, 2007 sam

Wow, thats really expensive over here! Get evos if you can, there probably the best hybrid shoe.

Mar 27, 2007 kobansora

They're on eBay but not in my size.

~JJ

Mar 27, 2007 RamenRadio

Jesus christ, these shoes are so ugly.....
The black one is OKAY, but that yellow grind plate is HORRIBLE.......

Mar 27, 2007 RamenRadio

Jesus christ, maybe even the torches are better looking than this crap...

Mar 27, 2007 ordnanceflint91

i got my grails on ebay brand new for $45.... the grind plates are almost like the impact plate. i give thses shoes a 8 out of 10 for comfort and grinding

Mar 27, 2007 kobansora

I'd sport the grey ones any day.

I think the torches are uglier.

~JJ

Mar 27, 2007 SapAuthor

no offence guys, but are you SOAPers or Heelers? What's the point of us bringing back SOAPs if you just go off and get Heelys? show some support -.- We worked hard to get them back in production, ur killing us here.

Mar 27, 2007 RamenRadio

I'm sorry sapauthor, I just couldn't notice how freaking ugly these shoes were. Someone said they had these shoes in mind, but then I got soaps. I just wanted to see why he would want these shoes. But whatever, I only wear soap shoes, and I think all heelys are ugly. I never even TOUCHED a pair of heelys, so just because I talk about heelys sometimes, doesn't make me a fucking heelyer.

Mar 27, 2007 RamenRadio

Last comment, Kobansora, I'm not sure which pair of shoes could be more ugly. These or the Torches......

Mar 28, 2007 SonicSoaper

You never touched a pair of Heelys yet you used to finger the open hole in my torches where I took the heel plugs out.

Mar 28, 2007 snikas

hahaha... hey RamenRadio you finger heelys? damn i would of thought you did that to girls but shoes. haha

Mar 28, 2007 snikas

hey man im only playin

Mar 28, 2007 kobansora

SapAuthour, chill for a bit huh? I love Soaps, and I love them more than Heelys, but that doesn't stop me from getting Heelys. Whatever I can grind with, I will wear it :/ These Grails aren't that bad, and Heeling will kind of make the skatepark even more fun to run around in you know? Actually being able to roll into a bowl and grind on the way out is easier than running in, running up and grinding, then coming back down. I have my reasons for wanting the things I do. But otherwise, I'd still sport the Soaps.

I'm still a strong supporter for Soaps because A) They're a really complete grind shoe B) They look hell of a lot nicer than Heelys C) They're a lot more comfortable than normal shoes (Although I would like to be able to dance in them) D) Their plates are interchangeable and innovative... I can just keep going.

You guys may have worked hard to get Soaps back, but we're kinda working too. I mean, wearing and using Soaps is basically advertising it, and people ask me where I get my Soaps every now and then. Plus, they're a lot cooler than Heelys so there's no need to worry about Soaps dying out. I mean, I had to choose between Heelys and Soaps when I was thinking about grind shoes, and I went for Soaps because they are freaking amazing.

Yeah

~JJ

Mar 28, 2007 Surfaced

The coolness factor isn't what will keep Soap running right now. There is need to worry.

Mar 28, 2007 kobansora

Nonetheless it isn't gonna die unless we all slowly started to stop Soaping.

~JJ

Mar 28, 2007 Slidey

Obviously I'm a Soaper, if you add up all the Soap related stuff I've bought (4 pairs of soaps, multiple grindplates, t-shirts, PVC rails etc) I've spent about £250 ($490) to help soap, and I've only been soaping for about a year.

I really don't think its THAT BAD if I spend about £30 on Heelys because I want to try out the Grind Rails plate and I want to know why people think the wheel is so cool.
It's not as if I buy Heelys I'm suddenly going to wear them all the time, Soaps are so much more stylish and comfortable. I'll hardly ever wear Heelys if I buy them

Mar 28, 2007 sam

I know slidey, I have one pair of heelys, and now 6 pairs of soaps.

Mar 28, 2007 SapAuthor

i've put a lot of time nad money in too, i bought my first pari for 120, since then i've bought 2 ohter pairs, replacable plates, spent tons and tons of time on building the shop and now the new website, the PVC pipe and lumber and time to make the rail. But please though, SOAPs are not 'stable' yet, every sale helps shows HSL they should invest more, but HSL could pull the plug anytime...

Mar 28, 2007 RamenRadio

I didn't actually touch your shoe AJ. Just because I had my finger going in and out, didn't make me actually touch your shoe. If you have someone shoving a finger in and out of your shoe, I would think you would know the specifics, Owned

Mar 28, 2007 Mart

Trev, this is a grindshoe website, not a Soap shoe website. Let people express their opinions freely instead of trying to suppress them; you live in the land of the free supposedly, right?

If any more of this Heely-hating crap kicks off, especially on the comments page, it's gone. It's pathetic, childish and growing rather tiresome incredibly quickly, so settle

Mar 28, 2007 SonicSoaper

Seriously.

Mar 28, 2007 RamenRadio

AJ, your just saying that because you have a pair of torches

Mar 28, 2007 SonicSoaper

No, I'm just sick of all the idiotic "HEELYS SUCK!!!!!1!1!!11" posts.

Mar 28, 2007 RamenRadio

They aren't idiotic, people are saying what they think. And they explain why they say it's a sucky shoe or not

Mar 28, 2007 SonicSoaper

Yeah, about 20% of them do. These are the people who have used them. The other 80% just hate the shoes to hate them, like a skater hates on an inliner.

Feb 5, 2008 Kain

H2,
I know. The reason is, there's only 2 mega/plate models. Since Torch and Evos came out, they're the most popular ones. HSL keeps making these cheap FATS models, or ones with no plates, so they don't sell and they have to be discontinued

Feb 5, 2008 RamenRadio

fat's wheels suck.

Evolution wheels aren't bad, but they are slow.

Torch wheel is ok, but they break easily.

Feb 5, 2008 Kain

The mega wheels in torch are good for street....really smooth and fast.

But there's a new wheel coming out this July called megavert, it's supposed to be about as hard as a skateboard wheel and nearly indestructible, but only good on vert.

Feb 6, 2008 seth1230

NEARLY indestructable ;)

anyways

I REALLY liked the plates on these. no lock on made them alot better then my express ones. too bad theyre disconintued.....

Feb 6, 2008 Kain

Seth,
All I've heard about megavertz breaking is if you use them on bumpy streets.

And aren't grail plates supposed to be the best plates on heelys available?

Feb 6, 2008 RamenRadio

My friend cracked his grind rails plate on a ledge. It was pretty sad, he didn't have the money for another pair.

Feb 6, 2008 Revengasaur

I think I may have seen a little girl with a pair of these on at the skatepark a few days ago. They were like way too big for her and she was flying around like a rabid squirrel.I was like O_O i know people who would kill you for those shoes kiddo.

Feb 6, 2008 Kain

Revengasaur,
not really.....you can find these in some places, the really rare styles are torch and evolution

Feb 6, 2008 Revengasaur

Hmh, learn something new every day. Makes sense though, must have been her older brothers or something.

Feb 6, 2008 RamenRadio

I dunno, I don't see any heelys now a days. Not even the rails

Feb 6, 2008 Kain

We've seen a few more ppl at skate parks we go to with heelys, and A LOT in the malls. Although that's kind of annoying, and it just reinforces everyone's idea about the whole "kiddy shoe" thing.....

ugh

Feb 6, 2008 xJeremiahx

I see these for sale all the time but they are always size 6 and under.

Feb 6, 2008 rhinoskater30

cuz they are for kids...

Feb 6, 2008 rhinoskater30

When I heeled though, when i was LITTLE, i did like these plates. I has scorchers too so I has something to compare these with.

Scorchers were fast but to me, only on tweaks.
These has no lock though but seemed fast.

Fast is good, but if there is no lock, then you fall of the rail or whatever.
The grind then becomes pointless...

Feb 7, 2008 Kain

Rhino,
.........nvm...I'm not even gonna start this again.....

Apr 28, 2008 blakeashake

these are ugly shoes

Apr 28, 2008 anaholaboys

i agree

Sep 20, 2013 mcgrinder2011

looks okay if not for that RIDICULOUS wheel and the badly made grind plate.

Sep 26, 2013 Revengasaur

I own a couple pairs of Heelys Grind This! They have an express(ish) plate and are surprisingly comfortable. You can take the wheel out and just put the plug in. I tried "Heeling" for about 15 minutes and found it kinda pointless. If I want to roll around I have a skateboard for that. These plates probably did suck though. They just look too flat.

Sep 26, 2013 mcgrinder2011

Way too flat(not sure since they're always too small for me to get).

Oct 15, 2013 mcgrinder2011

I still don't get why HSL didn't just use the Express plates. Grind Rails are so frail and just insult Soap's patent more than usual.

Oct 15, 2013 zelda

Hsl used these plates instead of others because they are super fast, with the only flaw being you typically cant grind benches.you can confirm this with Dario, the one of the only things you can blame hal for is destroying soap by replacing advertised soap demos to include heelys.

not sure what happened to the people who made the express or grind rails plate, b3cause anything after that by hsl really sucked and was a complete failure.

Oct 15, 2013 mcgrinder2011

1. just, how fast?

2. I knew that already.

3. Well, no dip. my cousin just got a pair of heely's most recent grind shoe to soap, he busted his ass on my little rail and his plates broke(had the Grind Rails plate). he had to go see a doctor for a sprained ankle.

Oct 15, 2013 zelda

No clue, need to ask Dario that one. Lol that sounds horrible man, if only heelys existed so you could sue. Sounds as though he had a worn down pair, that pretty much happens to all shoes

Oct 16, 2013 grug250

i have a pair of the heelys slide they have the express grind plate on them

Oct 16, 2013 mcgrinder2011

yeah, though he is a heavy-set kid. I'm no physicist, but I guess the excessive downward force on the plates just smashed them. I had a look yesterday and the little heelys logo was gone. on both of the plates. Least he wasn't my brother, he would've broke both the shoes, and the stairs. (he has a tendency to air on to stuff).

Apr 1, 2015 Waffle

Lol me and my friend were talking about the Grind-Rails and he suddenly said what if Heelys made a shoe called Grail. I told him that they did lol. Weird coincidence?

Apr 1, 2015 Waffle

Oh yea and the grindplate is Impact 2.0 lol
