Grindplate: T-Bone

The T-Bone is Soap's attempt to satisfy both the retailers and the consumers. Soapers want a sole plate, but retailers don't think it will sell. So Soap made a shoe with "half" of a sole plate. The plate angles down so in order to do any kind of sole trick you grind on the heel portion of your shoe.

OK, first i would like to say im much in love with the t-bones i have now, the plates are cemented on express with a sole plate and they are great on rails and pretty much anything else you can dish out,(don't be a complete idiot and gride unwaxed curbs and rough cement) The only problems i have with mine are how the heel near the plates the sole rubber peels off and in front of the main plate my sole split up the sides of my show and now the rubber and the plate touch and pull apart when i walk(hard to explain) over all i'd give these shoes a 7.

These were my second Soaps. I got them back in the Summer of 2004 at a Journey's in The Mall of America, Minneapolis. They only had one size, 8s, and I was an 8, therefore I bought them almost immediately.

First, I'd like to say that if you find a pair of these that fit you, the comfort factor is just fine. It's not bad, but it's not remarkable. The half-sole plate is very nice, if not better than the arch plate. I say this because the arch plate could lock better, and the thing gets really scuffed up after walking for a couple of weeks. The biggest drawpack has to do with the sole construction. I noticed after a week of having my Gray/Charcoal T-Bones, that the rubber sections on the back (light grey on both models) will start to peel and eventually tear, and finally rip off. That's about the worst thing that could happen, because everything else about this shoe is quite rugged.

Awesome shoes. friend of mine had them back in late '03. Great tweakage and pretty good lock-on. The heel plate was definitely a really cool thing to use. Only problem, as mention, was that the back began to fall apart after a few weeks.

I think i know why the reason is that....It kinda quite obvious but imma come out and say it anyway.....Its the way we walk.....Every now and then we might take a step that "scrapes" the back of the shoe....I thought of this becuase yesterday i was trying to photoshop in a half sole plate (like the T-bones) into a picture of My Express'.........i realized that the scraping gives the back of the shoe a slant upward at the end..... On the pic that i was photoshopping it was clear that the half sole plate would start to come out because of the slant.... So I then took a pic of a brand new pair of Express' and did the same thing...The half sole plate fit snuggly and correctly- not sticking out....so i guess my advice would be, Be careful how you walk if you have T-bones OR ANY Grind plate with a half or full sole plate. Pretty good eh? Lol....Its obvious but i did this just to get an image in your head

I think that the reason HSL created the T-bones was NOT becuase of the A-side being the laughing stock of Pacsun and Journeys but becuase it made you get the feel of Heeling....You know Heelys....you know what i mean?

T-bones look nice...I'd like a pair of them. I think they'd be more awesome if they where full sole...but oh well. One of HSL's good shoes...wait...HSL only made different kinds of shoes...Express with like...slight differences same soles and different names...but T-bones are actually DIFFERENT in style, sole, color, plate, etc.

1. I bought Torches because they were the only grind shoes I could buy at the moment. My mom didn't want to use the internet to buy shoes so the torches were my only option.

The curve in the plate is for lock-in..... What the hell kind of comment is that? I'm not hating, but you don't really sound like you know anything about the T-bones. They are very good shoes, with very nice lock-in. The sole plate could be better, well that's just my opinion since I don't like wheelbarrows that much, but it's something different.

And you can't exactly judge a plate until you've grinded on it yourself.

and i knew the middle was for locking. I meant that the shoe was made because it was the next choice after slipknots, but if u tried to use it like broadsides the front would stop u! Unless u use 'em like heelys- but on a rail.

It's meant more for wheelbarrows, not for makios. It works somewhat ok, just as long as you focus on the heel more. It's not meant for that though.

but are they really any good? Because you have to grind with your toes pointing up is it a lot harder to balance, or easier because your weight is on your heel normally. cos if they are decent i might get some.

HSL should give this shoe a full sole plate, and sell these shoes instead of express.

HSL intended on selling these with a full sole plate, but decided at the last minute not to.

Maybe they should reconsider their decision. These shoes could sell pretty well with a FULL SOLE PLATE.

I've never used them, but in my opinion I don't think they're worth it. The only other trick you can do (I think) in comparison to normal shoes are wheelbarrows.

Just got a brand new pair of these today in the mail! Surprisingly comfy, light, and slim shoe minus the big padded tongue. Psyched to go try the heel portion of the shoe, despite wishing I could just score some broadsides.
