Soap Shoes BBK

This is the 2nd grindplate created by soap. They were a lot lighter and had rounded edges for more technical grinds.

Until this experience I had never used BBK's I had always had oldschool or curb busters so it was different. I bought a pair of new shoes and they had BBK's so I thought I would have to get used to them suprisingly they were much better than I expected, better than the oldschool's because I had more control and better than the curb busters because they had more contour to the rail. Overall a good plate and I suggest them to anyone not wanting slo-bro's.

Apr 22, 2006 mrman

BBKs were the best.

Slowbros were 2nd best, but BBKS were the best because they had the most grind plate material. That way, you could customize the wear perfect for you.

Apr 23, 2006 James

Have you even Tested both out?

May 4, 2006 AnthoFlex

HEy...i JUST got my pair of ordnance today and i'm sooo fuking siked....they have BBK plates but they say UHF...why is that? anywayz, i know they're the BBK's cause they look just like these....maybe it was a print error?....or maybe BBk's are a differnt kind of UHF...

May 4, 2006 Surfaced

If I am correct, UHF is like a mini-brand created by Soap to represent their grind plates. If you ever buy replacement grind plates of if you've been to the archived Soap website, the packaging/plate page will say UHF.

May 15, 2006 AnthoFlex

Dude....i just recieved a pair of BBk's in the mail that i was hoping was the Gray "Silver looking one" but instead its a shade of gray not shown here.....weird....they're gray nontheless though...but damn...

May 15, 2006 Mart

The grey plates don't look silver; my pair of grey Squeaky Cleans came with grey BBKs and they didn't look like the ones in the picture up there

May 15, 2006 AnthoFlex

I got a little mad at first cause i thought that they were black...(i already have black) but they're pretty cool....now imma try to get all kinds of colors

May 18, 2006 chip

were do you get plates

May 18, 2006 Surfaced

Lots of places, Chip. Please ask your questions in the forums though.

May 18, 2006 chip

theas are good with aney shoe

May 19, 2006 AnthoFlex

any with replacable plates....

May 22, 2006 madski7

i just got ordinance today. the bbk is the best plate ive ever used

May 22, 2006 Surfaced

That's what most people tend to say.

Jun 1, 2006 maddog

i just got my scab and ordnances and i switched the bbks onto my scabs cause they look better =]

Jul 9, 2006 Rick

Used the BBKs on my Ordnance's for the first time today...I can't believe how much better than the Express they are. A lot better lock-on than I thought, really good tweak, and they seemed a lot faster.

Jul 9, 2006 Mart

All new plates have a slick topcoat on them, a byproduct of the moudling process. Once they wear in a bit they'll slow down, but they're still pretty quick plates

Jul 10, 2006 AnthoFlex

Yea, Mart is right.....after i got my Ordnance with the BBKs, i completely neglected my Express'.... afterwards,.....I used the BBKs a lot...A LOT!! Now, i find that my Express' are faster, even though ive used them more then my BBKs....i think My Express' are my favorite of the 3 Soaps i own

Jul 10, 2006 AnthoFlex

BBKs are still the shit though ;)

Jul 10, 2006 Rick

Just got the grey ones in the mail, and as Antho and Mart said they're definitely not the color of the ones in the picture. A fairly dark shade, but they match my flint Ordnance's perfectly.

Jul 10, 2006 AnthoFlex

I recently found out that the ones shown arent the Gray ones at all....they're actually the *Superman music* THE PLATINUM BBKS *echoes out*....lolz, i was disappointed when they werent the colors shown but they're really nice anywayz

Aug 13, 2006 SapAuthor

finaly i got my pair of ordnance, and i can put my pair of BBK plates to use (i bought them thinking i was going to win a bid on a pair with replaceable plates long ago, but ended up loosing it and getting some expresses with the cemented on plates). I'm looking forward to testing the BBK plates out, they look sweet, plus my express plates are starting to slow down, to much PVC pipe or something lol. Maybe i should try using that wax scratch remover stuff they use on snowboards.

Aug 13, 2006 Mart

Your expresses will have slowed up because the slick top layer of plastic has gone now. It happens with all plates, it's a result of the manufacturing process

Aug 14, 2006 axe5666

wat am i misin here?

Aug 15, 2006 SapAuthor

mart, will it really happen to all of the plates? The bbk's have a bumpy surface, i am assuming it will grind well until those bumps are gone (more Surface area). or will it still suffer from the same fate? lastly, i wonder if there's anyway to restore that surface with some sort of procedure.

Aug 15, 2006 AnthoFlex

YEa......wax

Aug 15, 2006 XSIVE7

Yes indeed the wholesome lubracant 4 bumping WHILE grinding noobs need it pro use it! YEA!

Aug 15, 2006 SapAuthor

I wonder if there's someway to add a coating of hard surface, almost like a laquer, to the grind plate to keep it from damage...i'll have to do some tests on the UHF original plate that will come with the ordnance, i don't want to ruin my BBK plates with testing.

Aug 15, 2006 Mart

Dude, seriously, your PVC pipe slowing down is probably equal parts your plates wearing down and dirty accumulating on the pipe

All brand new plates, as with anything that's moulded, has a slick outer surface. It's just a product of the manufacturing process, as I said earlier. Besides, BBKs are too quick brand new anyway, and there's no point in trying to lacquer them because they'll last fucking ages

Oct 18, 2006 Krammit

Been wonderin' if anyone has the yellow BBK's? I'm interested to see how they look close up on the shoes. I'm considering switching from black to yellow, for appearance kicks, but I'd like to know what they look like on the shoe up close if possible. :P

Oct 19, 2006 Go2Crew

OK Krammit, go to my previous Ebay listing by doing a search on item #230017108923 and you will see what a set of yellow BBKs look like on the Ordnance Petrol (factory standard plate for them). I still have a slightly used set in size 7-8 for $4.95 and Keemaz has several sizes new listed on eBay for $5.95 ---Steve

Oct 21, 2006 snikas

Good plates! They last a long time. But i cant find them in size 11.

Oct 24, 2006 lilbrainsoaper

just wonderin, do BBK'z come in MB tank style and size 8. soz 4 da noob question. just got my soaps from ebay. fankz

Peace Out!!

Nov 2, 2006 Rictor

just bought some Clean soaps yesturday, now just waiting for them to come. Think I should buy some BBKs even before I get my Cleans, they come with original plates.

Nov 8, 2006 snikas

buy the plates ahead of time. there awsome and reliable

Nov 10, 2006 Rictor

Like someone posted above Grey doesn't look Silver like shown above, it's more of a grey/black. Might want to get Grey if you're shoe soles aren't as black as your plates. My Clean's soles are lighter than the black plates they came with, Grey would blend a lot better.

Nov 22, 2006 Kile

heyy krammit when you sent in the link for ebay i looked it up there werent any slo-bros for sale

Nov 29, 2006 Soopahsonic

How long do these last?

Jan 3, 2007 snikas

a hell of a long time

Jan 7, 2007 SonicSoaper

Both of my friends have Ords but my bud Travis has Sylons with BBKs. After loooing at them I thought they'd be pretty crappy plates but looking at the replys here they seem to be good. Haven't tryed them out for myself yet so my opinions can't be swayed.

Jan 7, 2007 snikas

yeh get BBKs. good pair of plates to do triks on ROUND RAILS. DO NOT USE BBKs ON SQUARE RAIL. its just harder to balance and stick tricks

Jan 7, 2007 SonicSoaper

That explains why my two friends couldn't do squat on my practice rail.

Feb 5, 2007 ordnanceflint91

i love the bbk plates... so far i have 2 pair in white, 2 pair in black, a yellow pair and a grey pair....they have pretty good lock on too even when they are new...just gotta get some grooves on the sides for royales/farfs...but really good plates

Feb 6, 2007 snikas

cool

Feb 9, 2007 cherryman696966

just got a pair from steve, hope their good

Feb 19, 2007 kobansora

Yeah I agree with Snikas.... Square rails will kill you.

~JJ

Feb 19, 2007 Slidey

I don't find square rails that hard to balance on with BBKs, thier just a little harder to balance, like most plates I have. Be very careful about slipping out on sqare rails, it's so much easier than on circuler ones

Feb 19, 2007 RamenRadio

Balance? I didn't find balancing very hard on AJ's square rail (well, maybe a little, since his rail isn't so big). But whenever I go on that rail, I have trouble connecting my plates with the rail.

Feb 19, 2007 SonicSoaper

You have to wear them down more. Keith was on it the other day and his plates were smooth as hell. Had no problems on it at all.

Feb 19, 2007 RamenRadio

hmmmm, I have to soap more...... WORKS FOR ME! ^^

Feb 19, 2007 SonicSoaper

Try to hit some really rough ledges or get some sand paper.

Feb 19, 2007 RamenRadio

Ehhhhh, my BBKs are the originals though! I don't want to hurt 'em...

Feb 23, 2007 casper

bleh...my BBK's took a beating on my first day of using them..and there all strached up, is that good or bad?

Feb 23, 2007 matrix8967

hit some rails, it smooths them out.

Feb 23, 2007 cherryman696966

my bbks are amazing, i have a bbk on my lead foot, right and a slo bro on my left... i go goofy btw, but i think i'm ganna make them both bbks, i haven't decided yet

Feb 23, 2007 kobansora

I used my BBKs on curbs and ledges before hitting rails... I think they're to the point that they look almost like UHF plates now lol.

~JJ

Mar 24, 2007 rhinoskater30

Fast?

Mar 24, 2007 AnthoFlex

Yea, the BBKs are REALLY fast

Mar 24, 2007 AnthoFlex

they are very basic, but they work freaking awesome

Mar 24, 2007 SonicSoaper

Who love curbs, A.J. loves curbs.

Apr 4, 2007 mets603412

i changed back to my bbks. i like them a lil more than my slobros because there faster. They also feel better when i grind i dont know why.

Apr 4, 2007 Surfaced

I too enjoy the BBK's speed.

Apr 4, 2007 RamenRadio

Yeah, my slo bro plates have been fucking up all my grinds lately. I have no idea what's up with it, but its making me so mad

Apr 4, 2007 kobansora

I want slo bros because of the tweakage I can possibly get with them..... Oh man the tweakage! But BBKs are still really good and basic plates I guess. They're all I have, but they're like an MMORPG character; They kind of wear into your personal style; but in this case, it's with grinding.

~JJ

Apr 4, 2007 Mart

The amount of torque you get is dependent on your technique, not your plates. Try a little harder with your BBKs and you'll get where you want to go

Apr 4, 2007 kobansora

That's exactly what I meant with the MMORPG thing lol

~JJ

Apr 4, 2007 JeiHeirumaru

...What the hell is MMORPG?

Apr 4, 2007 AnthoFlex

yea, for real, not to mention that grooves will get into your BBKs over time that will allow you to tweak easier...

i say its easier because anyone who has Express, or BBKs, knows that when you tweak to get that royale, its flat, and doesnt really stay onto the rail that well, it kinda just shoots out if you tweak it wrong

Apr 4, 2007 AnthoFlex

*i was talking about BBKs and Express with no grooves on the side*

Apr 4, 2007 Surfaced

MMORPG = Massively multiplayer online role-playing game. Examples: World of Warcraft, Silkroad, Everquest, RuneScape, Maple Story, Star Wars Galaxies, Auto Assault

Apr 4, 2007 kobansora

When I tweaked with my old BBKs, I didn't get a royal groove... I got like, paper thin grooves that were VERY hard to tweak with. Well, for my inner right foot that is..

Whaaaaaatever lol I'm doing differently with my new plates.

~JJ

Apr 4, 2007 JeiHeirumaru

Ahhh....That's what that means

Apr 4, 2007 matrix8967

my bbk's are great. my slo-bro's are great, but i never touch curbs with them. i only do curbs with my bbk's. all my other plates. straight rails. I've got 3 pairs of Slo-Bros, 3 pairs of BBK's and some Maxwell's. I also have Express and slipknot's (broadsides) the only plates i don't have are Curbbusters, Impact, Octane, t-bone, speedster. and of course A-sides, and the quick draw...I've tried BBK, Slo-Bro, Express, Slipknot, Speedster, and Curbbusters...and my fav...i don't know...

---Alex

Apr 4, 2007 JeiHeirumaru

Does anybody else think that UHF's just suck?

Apr 4, 2007 Mart

Everyone except Ryan, I think

Apr 4, 2007 snikas

ok well i might of said that UHFs suck big time before but there the easyest to lock on to square rails since theres little curve. i use them cuz they take the beating i put on them. so wat i said before i take it back partlly.

Apr 5, 2007 RamenRadio

I don't think they suck, they are just not my favorite plate. The UHF was the start of all this, so I don't have a problem with them really. Grinding is a lot harder since there is no locking, but pretty much all there is in the slo bros are lockin, and they are killing me lol

Apr 24, 2007 RamenRadio

Whoa, what happened to the comments that were here?

Apr 24, 2007 pepsi

woah...there were comments about trying to replace UHF plates with BBK plates :S

Apr 24, 2007 RamenRadio

I know, something strange is going on on solidgrind. And broox still has not replied to me.... and it's actually it's a number of things...

Apr 25, 2007 broox

the only way comments disappeared is if an admin marked them as spam/flame/nonsense.

comments cannot just disappear.

Jun 13, 2007 GrindStoners

I WANT THAT BLACK N WHITE GOA MIST! please HELP, how i order this shoe damn it..

Jun 13, 2007 SonicSoaper

Go to eBay and hopefully you'll find a pair.

Jun 29, 2007 Megashadow77

....is it just me, or is this all just the same plate, photoshopped different colors?

Jun 29, 2007 AnthoFlex

Its just you, these same pix were used in the old Soapshoes.com

Jun 29, 2007 Megashadow77

well, the blue one is, you can even tell, cuz the bottom screw hole is blue.

Jun 29, 2007 AnthoFlex

Well, it IS a blue BBK, why the hell wouldnt it be blue?

Jun 29, 2007 Megashadow77

no, I mean, like, the empty space is blue, too.

Jun 29, 2007 AnthoFlex

Same on the black. Its not photoshopped dude

Jun 29, 2007 Megashadow77

Yeah, you're right.

But still, you can't blame me for mistakin', those two pics do look very alike ^_^

Jun 29, 2007 sam

Thats because they are the same plates, just different colors, they still used the same molds.

Jul 11, 2007 Megashadow77

Okay, now I gotta do a review on this un'.

They're pretty fast. Express are faster, but still. They work good on rails and ledges. They don't have that V-Lock Shit, so, you can't really screw up the plate like you can Expresses.
The lock in is good, but I like the Express's lock in better, it just feels safer, and more direct.
I'd say these are the all around plates.

Sep 3, 2007 RamenRadio

I think the express lockin is mad weird.... It kind of feels stupid, I like the bbks better, that way I can create my own lockin. I just like it that way.

Why didn't HSL continue producing these plates for the consumers? I can't find any other bbk plates besides the plates that I buy with shoes off ebay.

I am getting a little annoyed about not being able to find bbk plates, I only have so many.

Sep 3, 2007 Megashadow77

Lol, back when I did that review, I was biased, I had only used mah bbks for a day. Now a days, I'd take some BBKs over Express anyday any grind.

Sep 3, 2007 RamenRadio

That's the spirit :D

Sep 3, 2007 RamenRadio

the lockin on express is like "RAWR You lockin here! Now get down! GET DOOOOOOOOWNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEND OVER!"

I know, that's a scary way to put it, but it's true. I smashed my face into the fucking rail the first time I used those shoes because my front foot wasn't directly on the stupid express lockin.

However, the bbk is a friendly plate :D Make your own lockin and all, it's a great plate. I wish I could get some more bbks in different colors.

Sep 3, 2007 lvmaniac44

i am gettin some new bbks with my squeaky cleans i got from ebay, and Michael, they are being shipped to my house not my dad's

Sep 4, 2007 RamenRadio

I need some more bbks, I'd like some different colors. All I have are black bbks, yellow, and blue. That's all :(

Sep 4, 2007 greenfire8484

oh no! he only has three extra pairs of BBKs! Quick, let's feel sorry for him!
lol jk but really ur acting like thats a bad thing to have so many plates

Sep 4, 2007 RamenRadio

Actually, I have around ten pairs of bbks. I was just listing the colors I had.

I was just saying I want more colors, ok?

Sep 4, 2007 greenfire8484

holyshit.thatsalotaBBKs.
And really dude i was kidding. Dont take it so seriously

Sep 4, 2007 RamenRadio

You know what? You know what? NO, it's NOT OK. OK?

Sep 4, 2007 RamenRadio

OK!

Sep 4, 2007 greenfire8484

holy... shit.... hes finally lost it.

Sep 4, 2007 RamenRadio

Jeez man, don't you know a joke when you see one? Now we're not OK lol :P

Sep 4, 2007 greenfire8484

i was kidding... apparently neither of us can see a joke>

Sep 4, 2007 greenfire8484

shit....it was supposed to be >

Sep 4, 2007 RamenRadio

I was joking too, jeez man..... I said lol at the end that time!

Sep 4, 2007 greenfire8484

oh whatever fuck it

Sep 4, 2007 RamenRadio

Stop man, you're flooding up the bbk section

Sep 4, 2007 greenfire8484

fine.

Sep 9, 2007 greenfire8484

jw, dont get all mad, but what's the best part about these? I mean, like.... what's so great about them? Cuz I hear a bunch of people talking about how good they are...

Oct 24, 2007 newbsoaper

hey, i hav size 14 mbtanks and im thinking about getting these plates. on ebay theres a guy selling these and it says "new replacement plates BBK size 5/6" (also size 7/8) what size plate do i get for my size 14 mbtanks? Also is there a site where i can get any type of plates??

Oct 24, 2007 Megashadow77

you need size 13/14 plates for size 14 MB Tanks.

Oct 25, 2007 LVsoaper12

try e-mailing steve

Jan 13, 2008 padricjoe

i got bbk plates they are my first plates.they are good but i am finding them a bit boring i am tryin to find somwhere that sells plates with soul parts.

Jan 14, 2008 RamenRadio

Sole plates were only featured on broadsides, asides(unreleased), and Tbones.

Sorry bro. Finding soap shoes with a sole plate is tough.

Jan 29, 2008 RamenRadio

If the octane plate was as thick as the bbks, they would be most awesome grind plates.

Mar 7, 2008 Revengasaur

Mar 7, 2008 Revengasaur

That was odd... My post didn't post.
Long story short, these things are sick... my new favorite plates.

May 15, 2008 MiTcH1337

These are soo smooth. I love them.

Jul 24, 2008 Spano565

These plates rock with my ord's.

Jul 24, 2008 Pluh

Hehe these just came in. They rock

Aug 27, 2008 Spano565

But are they better then the express.

Aug 27, 2008 Spano565

*, If you've tried the express.

Aug 27, 2008 Pluh

oh yeah, I own a pair, and I love these a lot more.

Aug 28, 2008 Spano565

Same here with me.

Aug 28, 2008 Pluh

The only thing I need now are more shoes =P

Aug 28, 2008 Spano565

Right now i'm gonna see if i can get my dad to buy Spider Soaper's Ord's for $50.00 but what sucks is my b-day in October.Hopefully dosen't sell them by then.
Back to BBK's, I wish mine were new when i got them. But then again when you already have a slight groove in your plate when you got isn't so bad.But my express will slide me much farther.

Aug 28, 2008 Spano565

*But then again i can't complain because the lock-in is much better then the express.
My express will obviously slide me farther because of the slick coating a had on them when i had them.

Aug 28, 2008 Pluh

Aah, yeah. I got mine brand new so it was nice seeing how fast they went new. And it was fast....

Nov 1, 2010 vansci123

I can tell a place ,you can go to it and to buy
IC electronic components

Feb 23, 2012 RamenRadio

makes shoes heavy, I love this plate though waaaay better than UHF original

Mar 10, 2012 gongon1037

I'm looking for a pair of these in a size 10. can any one help?

Jan 10, 2013 owgo124

I just ordered some squeaky cleans with bbks so excited

Jan 10, 2013 Relate2Videos

Although they make the shoes kind of heavy, there one of the best grind plates.

May 3, 2013 camaro126

Yeah these look like awesome plates! I know they go faster but if you're used to the originals, will these take time to get used to?

May 16, 2013 camaro126

Well I tried them out and on curbs I really don't notice too much of a difference other than it sounds different while grinding. Maybe I should practice in it a bit more. On rails though it does seem to go faster and it locks on much better so it's easier to stay on. They are great!

Feb 1, 2015 LIGERZERO7

This is a longshot but... does anyone know a place to get quick release bbks? (ya will never happen i know)

Feb 1, 2015 mcgrinder2011

I have no clue where to get the Quick release. I'm wondering that myself.

Feb 1, 2015 grug250

what size?

Feb 1, 2015 Waffle

Those were never released.

Feb 1, 2015 grug250

Quick release plates were released have a look how the top loops are cut thats what made them Quick release because you only had to remove one bolt instead of 3

Feb 1, 2015 Waffle

Oh kool I was thinking about that the other day. I thought why arent they closed?

Feb 4, 2015 mcgrinder2011

Wait... Waffle, you didn't know Quick release existed? That's kinda lame. No offense but a lot of plates that you bought separately were quick release.

Feb 14, 2015 LIGERZERO7

Bad idea but... I really want to try and cut some of the plastic at the top and try to make them quick release plates...

Feb 14, 2015 Waffle

Man I really wanna try em 2.. Oh yea and what MCG said, it is kinda lame cause I research A LOT and I did not know!

Feb 14, 2015 justalilslow

Lol I had some way way back in the day. Like in 2001. A lot of my friends had plates that had the loops cut open back then.

Feb 15, 2015 LIGERZERO7

Oh cool. Hopefully nothing goes wrong with this... (If I ever do it).

No problem Waffle everyone messes up every once in a while :)

Feb 15, 2015 justalilslow

Theirs no point to it really. To remove them you still have to loosen up the other 2 screws so it will slide out.

You save a few seconds at best, and are you really changing then out that much? I just bring another pair with different plates and switch shoes.

Feb 16, 2015 LIGERZERO7

Yeah true... It won't hurt really hurt to do it though. I'm pretty impatient any way lol.

Sep 26, 2015 Novasoaper

Hey anybody know where i can find bbk plates, uhf isn't working for me.

Sep 27, 2015 Waffle

Greg Crellin has tons. Did you make a groove dude? you need one. UHF is basically the same as BBK. UHF just has shit lock on.

Sep 28, 2015 Novasoaper

Doesn't bbk move smoother?

Sep 28, 2015 Waffle

Nope.

Sep 28, 2015 Novasoaper

What plates do you have? Also send me a picture of your grooves via email (Michaelajayi@MSN.com)

Sep 29, 2015 Waffle

I woll later
